What billionaire Strive Masiyiwa told me

Spread the love

I had a meeting in the office skyscraper complex.

I used the elevator alongside four other men.

The elevator got to the third floor.

The door opened and we walked out.

I recognized him immediately.

Clad in a grey coloured French suit.

He held his briefcase in his left arm.

He was the famous Zimbabwean billionaire and entrepreneurial thought leader.

“Hello Sir, good day! Good day, Dr Strive Masiyiwa” I greeted him with enthusiasm.

He stopped and turned around.

He extended a hand for a handshake, “How do you do?”
I shook him with both hands.

“I am fine sir. I follow you on Facebook and Instagram. I follow all your posts religiously. They are so educative and inspiring. You give out MBA standard information for free!”. I exclaimed.

“Thank you, I am rushing for a meeting now, so if you don’t mind…” He said and increased his pace.

“Please sir, I need your help! I want to be a billionaire like you. I want to make money and be successful. Can you please give me some money?”

He chuckled and said, “Why would I want to give you money?”

I was speechless for some seconds.

“Err…because you are Dr Strive masiyiwa, a global billionaire and a good man” I replied.

He chuckled and said, “Listen to me my good fellow, you can only make money by selling a product or a service. So go and do research. Find a need in your environment and create a solution to it, then people will pay you to give them the solution that you have made. That is how I made money.”

His phone suddenly rang. He took it out from his pocket and glanced at it.

He handed out a card to me. “Here’s my complimentary card, email me when you have a business plan,” He said as he walked into the midst of his entourage in the balcony of the skyscraper building.

I waved goodbye to him and walked away in the opposite direction.

The words he said to me resounded in my head…

“You can only make money by selling a product or service”

The words kept haunting me.

The words are still haunting me.
