Adventure

An adventure across the River Nile

Spread the love

I was walking down the street one Sunday evening when my roving eyes spotted a pretty girl leaning on a car parked in front of a fast food joint. She looked sad. I swiftly walked up to her.

“Hello fine girl, my name is Leroi. What is your name? Why are you looking so sad? Tell me and I will take you inside this eatery for dinner.”

She laughed, “I am Favour. I have a headache and it is making me uncomfortable”

“Oh, sorry dear, come with me on an adventure and I promise the headache will disappear”

“You are funny, what type of adventure? Where do you want to take me to?”

“I will take you to Egypt but you have to promise that you will marry me when we return to Nigeria”

“Hahahahaha….Okay! I promise”

“Hold my hands, and close your eyes!”

I began chanting…

…astalabista africanus sengemenghe!….
…astalabista africanus sengemenghe!….

Vroooooom!

We shot up into the sky! We were encapsulated by a giant bubble as we flew into space.

Dayum! Plooooob!

We landed on the ground with a thud.

“Where are we?” Favour asked as she gazed wildly at our new location.

“Welcome to Egypt. This is the River Nile!”

“Omg! It is so beautiful, look at the blue colour of the water…. look at the overlapping waves….can we go for a swim?”

“Not now dear. This is the River Nile. It is the longest river in the world, 4258 miles long, and passes through eleven countries: Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo-Kinshasha, Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, South-Sudan, Sudan, and Egypt”

“Wow”

“Let’s move there to have a good view of the river from the hill”

“I wish I came with my phone, I would have taken some shots of….”

Booooom!

We were suddenly surrounded by soldiers. They were speaking Arabic and gesticulating wildly to each other.

“Hello, can you speak English? We are tourists, don’t hurt us” I addressed them in a desperate tone.

Pammm! Slaaaam!

Three soldiers grabbed Favour and led her away.

“Wait! You can’t do that! You can’t take my companion away!” I screamed.

“Shut up!” One of the Soldiers yelled at me and continued, “You black man come to Egypt with fine woman. We take her to Pharoah. Pharoah like beautiful black woman. You become slave and work hard to build pyramid”

“What are you saying? Is Egypt being governed by a Pharaoh or a President? And who is still building pyramids in this modern age?”

Whooosh!

The soldiers dragged me away….

….Where am I?….

….A dark underground tunnel…..

“Take this axe, you break stone to build pyramid of Giza now!” The English-speaking soldier ordered and turned around with his men and walked away.
Run! Run! Run for your life!

I ran out of the tunnel and found myself inside a room. I looked around, it was a magnificent room, a palace!

A young lady turned around and stared at me. I stared back.

“Oh my God she is beautiful!” I screamed in my mind.

It was love at first sight!
